Community Kids is the children’s ministry of Christ Community Church, serving children from birth through 5th grade. Our heart is to create a place where every child is known, loved, and welcomed while helping them discover who Jesus is and what it means to know and follow Him.
We partner with families to build a strong foundation of faith through biblical teaching, meaningful relationships, worship, prayer, play, and hands-on experiences — all within a safe, engaging, and age-appropriate environment.
We believe parents are the primary spiritual influence in a child’s life, and the church has the privilege of coming alongside families in that calling. Our goal isn’t to replace discipleship at home, but to support, encourage, and equip families as they help their children grow in their relationship with Jesus.
Our approach to discipleship is shaped around three important ideas: Belong, Believe, and Become.
Before kids understand everything about faith, we want them to know that they have a place here. We intentionally create environments where children are known, welcomed, valued, and connected to caring leaders and other kids.
We help children discover the truth of God’s Word and understand the big story the Bible is telling. Rather than simply learning individual Bible stories, kids are encouraged to discover who God is, what He has done through Jesus, and what it means to trust and follow Him.
Faith is meant to shape the way we live. We help kids consider how God’s truth changes the way they see themselves, relate to others, and respond to the world around them as they become more like Jesus.
Our desire is for children to leave Community Kids not simply knowing more about God, but growing in a real relationship with Him that impacts their everyday lives.

Community Kids provides age-appropriate environments for children from birth through 5th grade during our Sunday services. Kids experience Bible teaching, worship, prayer, games, hands-on activities, and meaningful relationships in a fun, engaging environment. Everything we do is grounded in Scripture and designed to help children know who God is, understand His story, and discover how His truth applies to everyday life through our Belong, Believe, Become approach.

AWANA is our midweek discipleship ministry designed to help children grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus through Scripture memory, Bible teaching, games, small groups, and meaningful relationships with caring adult leaders. AWANA also partners with parents, encouraging families to engage with their child’s discipleship materials at home throughout the week.

Each summer, Community Kids hosts Vacation Bible School (VBS), an exciting week filled with biblical teaching, worship, games, hands-on experiences, friendships, and fun. VBS is designed to help kids discover and grow in biblical truth in memorable ways while giving families in our community an opportunity to connect with Christ Community Church.

We believe every child is made in the image of God and should have the opportunity to belong, participate, and grow.
Community Kids is committed to creating increasingly inclusive environments where children with differing needs and abilities can thrive. We have a sensory room available for children who may benefit from a quieter, calmer environment or a break from their classroom, and we are developing a Buddy Program to provide more individualized support for children who may benefit from additional assistance. If your child has unique developmental, behavioral, sensory, communication, mobility, or other support needs, we would love to connect with you before your visit. This gives our Kids Ministry team an opportunity to learn more about your child, what helps them feel comfortable, what they enjoy, and how we can best support their participation and help them thrive.
Everything we teach is grounded in Scripture and points children toward the bigger story God is telling throughout the Bible.
We want children to do more than simply know individual Bible stories. We want them to understand who God is, what He has done, how God’s people are called to live together, and how He invites each of us to respond to Him.
Through our Belong, Believe, Become approach, kids are encouraged to ask questions, explore Scripture, build meaningful relationships, and discover how God’s truth connects to their everyday lives.
Our goal is to help children develop a biblical foundation they can carry with them as they grow.
We’re excited to meet your family!
When you arrive, head to the Community Kids Lobby, located outside the gym. One of our Kids Ministry team members will help register your family, show you where your child’s classroom is, explain our check-in and pick-up process, and answer any questions you may have.
Families are also welcome to pre-register online before their first Sunday to make check-in even quicker.
Once your family is registered, self check-in is quick and easy at our iPad stations.
When you check in, two stickers will print:
For your child’s safety, the matching parent claim ticket must be presented to the classroom team before your child is released.
We take seriously the privilege and responsibility of caring for your children.
Community Kids maintains safety and security practices designed to create environments where children are known, cared for, and protected.
Our safety practices include:
We believe some of the most important discipleship happens throughout the week — around the dinner table, in the car, at bedtime, and in the ordinary moments of family life.
That’s why our desire is not simply to provide a great children’s program on Sunday. We want to partner with parents as they disciple their children at home.
Through take-home resources, family conversations, ministry opportunities, and ongoing communication, we want to give parents tools that help continue conversations about Jesus beyond the walls of the church.
We understand that being in a new environment can be difficult for some children, especially our littlest ones!
Our team will work with you and your child to help make the transition as comfortable as possible. When appropriate, a parent or caregiver may be invited to briefly accompany their child into the classroom while they acclimate to the new environment.
Because the safety of every child in our care is extremely important to us, we limit ongoing classroom access during programming to approved Kids Ministry volunteers who have completed our required screening and background-check process, including CORI/SORI checks.
If your child regularly experiences separation anxiety or you have concerns about how they may adjust, please let our team know. We’d be happy to talk with you about how we can help make their first few visits a positive experience.
If your child needs you, our team will make every effort to reach you.
Our first step is to call or text the parent or caregiver using the contact information associated with your child’s profile.
If we’re unable to reach you that way, your child’s unique security code will appear on the screen in the sanctuary, along with an alert asking you to meet a Community Kids staff member in the Kids Lobby.
Please keep your phone accessible during the service and make sure the contact information on your family’s profile is current.
Please include any relevant allergy or medical information when registering your child. Important information associated with your child’s profile will be available to our team when your child checks in.
We do not serve food in our Community Kids classrooms, which helps us maintain allergy-aware environments.
If your child has a significant allergy, medical condition, or other need our team should be aware of, we encourage you to speak with a Community Kids team member at check-in so we can help care for your child well.
No! Everything your child needs to participate in Community Kids will be provided.
Children are always welcome to bring their own Bible if they have one, and Bibles are also available for kids to use during class.
We want every child to have access to God’s Word beyond Sunday morning, too. If your child does not have a Bible at home, they are encouraged to take one of ours home with them.
Not at all! Community Kids is open to families who are brand new to Christ Community Church, regular attenders, members, and families exploring church for the very first time.
Your family is welcome here, and we would love the opportunity to meet you and help your child get connected.
When your child checks in, you’ll receive a parent claim ticket with a unique security code that matches the code on your child’s name tag.
Please keep this ticket with you during the service. For your child’s safety, the matching claim ticket must be presented to the classroom team before your child is released.
We love when kids invite friends!
Visiting children will simply need to be registered by their parent or legal guardian before participating in Community Kids so that we have the necessary contact, medical, and security information for them.
Once they’re registered, our team will help them find the appropriate classroom and get settled in.
Community Kids is made possible by volunteers who faithfully invest in the next generation.
There are many ways to serve — from caring for babies and welcoming families to leading games, helping with hands-on activities, building relationships with kids, teaching Scripture, and serving behind the scenes.
All Kids Ministry volunteers complete our onboarding and required safety-screening process before serving.
We’d be happy to help!
